Loch Ailort from Alisary – Tues eve 25th May

Alisary at high tide

The original plan was to kayak from Forsay but we went for the calmer option of Alisary. (Also note parking is now more limited at Forsay since the roadside opposite the laybay has grown a ditch and bund so parking both sides of the road is no longer possible.)

No problem with parking at Alisary even with 5 vehicles for 6 of us because of Covid restrictions, Linda, Nick, Brian, Iain, Paul, and Pete. We had a spring tide near high water so put in was easy and we paddled out via Eilean nan Trom.

Out around the seaward side of Eilean a’Chaolais and Gobhar the chop had died to leave a bit of swell and we had clear views out to the Eigg and Rhum. We returned along the southern shore and even managed to get through the inshore side of Eilean na Gualainn. It turned into a beautiful calm evening but in the failing light we were welcomed by a few midges as we packed up the boats.
