Up and down on the swell

A weather window between storms allowed this meet to go ahead. The weather was good on the day, calm and dry but not much sunshine. However, with the wind from previous days there was a good swell on the water. Six of us were out – Paul, Martine, Steve, Ken, Amanda and Peter (new member). We set off from the Jetty at Glenuig and paddled outside Samalaman Island and round to the glorious Smirisary beach. The swell limited the scope for rock hopping but we did manage a couple of “adventures”. We explored the islands in the North Channel before heading back. Amanda pointed out the caves close to Glenuig which look well worth exploring next time. Lunch on Samalaman Island then a short paddle into Loch Ailort before returning to the Jetty. Amanda got a brew organised before we headed home after a good day out.
