Training

Your journey begins

Get going

Nevis Canoe club are committed to helping those interested in taking up paddle sports to get going. We do this by offering a programme of pool and sheltered water sessions to help you learn the basics, with a qualified instructor leading the sessions and plenty of friendly experienced members to support you in your early stages. Once you are sure that this is the sport for you, we can help with plenty of advice on what and where to buy your own equipment.

We're always happy to advise on gear choices

Pool sessions

In March we run pool sessions to give newcomers an introduction to paddle sports in a safe and well supervised environment. These sessions are intended for practicing basic techniques such as self rescue and safe use of a spraydeck. With 10 boats in the water acrobatics will not be possible. The cost for members is £7.00 per session or £24.00 for all four sessions. For dates please click the link below to go to the calendar of events.

Pool training

Outward bound, Loch Eil

Following on from the pool sessions these evenings are aimed at those with an interest in sea kayaking. The following three evenings you will  learn techniques such as towing, self rescue, rescuing others and generally staying safe on the water. The sessions again cost £5.00 and all essential equipment is provided.
