Paddling programme

Evening trips

Short evening trips are run from May until September with the venues chosen to suit the available light. All are fairly local and are an ideal opportunity for our less experienced members to get out and find out about what sea kayaking is all about.

Day trips

Day trips run throughout the year and we aim to have at least one trip a month, even through the winter months. As well as the scheduled day trips listed here members will often organise a day at short notice and all members are welcome to add their own events in. There is a WhatsApp group for the members to help. Some trips will be suitable for novice paddlers, others for more experienced. Click the photo to find out more

Close encounters are not uncommon

Weekends

Throughout the year a programme of weekend paddles is planned. These will take us further afield to more challenging destinations and are generally for the more experienced club members. However, we will try to organise at least one overnight expedition in sheltered waters to allow newcomers an opportunity to discover the real freedom that sea kayaking offers

Annual expedition

The club organises an annual holiday offering more experienced members the opportunity to indulge in a whole week of sea kayaking. Past trips have included The Outer Hebrides, Mull and our most recent trip was to the Shetland isles. Although planning is at an early stage, this year we are looking at Barra with an ambition to reach Mingulay and Barra Head if the weather proves kind.

On these trips we have camped, hired a lodge and in Shetland stayed in bothies. As always in Scotland we are at the mercy of the weather but all trips to date have been a success with some great paddling done.
