Paddling on Loch Nevis, Sgurr na Ciche in the background

Welcome to The Club

We are Fort William based, with around 70 members of all ages and abilities. As long as you are happy to get wet then you are more than welcome to come and join us.

During the summer we have sea kayak trips most Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. At weekends throughout the year about once per month we have longer meets. Our white water enthusiasts meet informally and can often be seen on the Garry when there are dam releases. The club is also used as a forum to meet other keen paddlers who just want to get out whenever and wherever.

We have a few river kayaks and various other bits of paddling kit for new members to use but we recommend members to buy their own. Advice is free and there is a healthy second hand market.

Early in the season we usually organise pool sessions to keep the skills up and then open water training sessions as the season goes on.

If you have any enquiries please get in touch. Look forward to seeing you on the water,

Paddling Programme

For sea kayaking the club has a programme of day and weekend trips. There will be meets to suit all levels of ability but some venues and weather conditions will be more difficult. The meets are “peer group” which means each member is responsible for  deciding if they or their equipment, the venue or the conditions are suitable for their abilities.

Club training

Pool sessions

We organise pool sessions and outdoor training sessions. The aim is to raise the standard of paddling and in particular safety throughout the club. For those new to paddling we hope to get you confident and competent enough to take part in our evening meets.

Training nights

Continuing from the pool sessions we now move onto Loch Linnhe to consolidate the skills learnt in the pool.

Club holidays

Most years we organise a club holiday so that the serious enthusiasts can indulge in a whole week of sea kayaking. Past venues include the Outer Hebrides, Mull and Shetland. For future years we are open to suggestions. Please be aware that these trips are only suitable for experienced kayakers
